Terms of Service

Last updated: June 16, 2026

By accessing or using MICROPENAL ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. What MICROPENAL is — and is not

MICROPENAL is a quick-reference and training aid only. It is not legal advice and is not a substitute for the official statutes, your agency's policies, your training, legal counsel, or your own professional judgment. The content is condensed and may be incomplete, generalized, AI-assisted, or out of date. Statutes and case law change. Always confirm current law against the primary sources before relying on it in the field, in a report, or in any official action — including a stop, detention, search, or arrest.

2. Eligibility

The App is intended for law-enforcement and criminal-justice professionals. You represent that you are using it in that capacity and exercising your own independent professional judgment.

3. No warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the content is current, correct, or applicable to any specific situation.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss or damage arising from your access to, use of, or reliance on the App — including any arrest, charge, citation, report, suppression, civil-rights claim, or other decision or outcome. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the App in the twelve (12) months before the claim or fifty U.S. dollars ($50).

5. Your responsibilities

You are solely responsible for your own conduct and decisions. You will use the App as a reference aid only, verify all information against authoritative sources, and not rely on the App as the basis for any official action.

6. Documents you provide

The App lets you load your own documents (for example, your department's policy manual). You represent and warrant that you have the right to use any document you load. Those documents are stored only on your device; we do not host, control, transmit, or claim any rights to them. You are responsible for complying with any license or restriction that applies to your documents.

7. Intellectual property

Texas statutes and case law are public records. The App's compilation, summaries, organization, design, code, icons, and the "MICROPENAL" name are owned by us and licensed to you under a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license for your professional use only. You may not copy, resell, sublicense, scrape, or redistribute the App or its content except as expressly permitted.

8. Subscriptions and billing

Some features may require a paid subscription. Pricing, the billing cycle, and renewal terms will be presented at the time of purchase. Unless stated otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically until canceled, and you may cancel at any time effective at the end of the current term. Purchases made through a third-party app store are also subject to that store's terms and refund policies.

9. Acceptable use

You will not misuse the App, attempt to defeat its security or access controls, reverse engineer it except as permitted by law, or use it for any unlawful purpose.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violation of these Terms or to protect the App or its users.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MICROPENAL and its owner from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of your use of the App or your violation of these Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The exclusive venue for any dispute will be the state or federal courts located in [COUNTY] County, Texas.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
